The Playstation has remained extremely popular since it was first introduced and gamers were taken by storm when the PS2 was eventually introduced. Well now there is another version of the Playstation set to be released and this time it is going to be bigger and better than ever!

What This New Addition Will Feature

Set to be released in March 2007, the Playstation 3 is no doubt going to be a best seller and although it is slightly bulkier, it does still look incredibly stylish. There are a number of games set to be released also, so there is no need to worry about having nothing to play on it! So just what is different about the Playstation 3?

The Playstation 3 is set to use Blu-ray discs which can hold up to six times more data than the current games can. The platforms which it supports are also pretty good with DVD, DVD-R, CD-RW, CR-ROM and DVD+R all catered for. This makes it excellent as a multimedia player too so not only can you play games on this handy machine but you can also watch movies and listen to music.

If that hasn’t convinced you to buy you will be delighted to know that the Playstation 3 is backward compatible. This means that it will support games etc all the way back to the original Playstation. So, if you have spent good money on games for either the Playstation or the PS2, you can still play them on the Playstation 3.

At the moment the current Playstation models have quite good graphics. The PS2 in particular was well improved and the graphics in games such as Grand Theft Auto really do look amazing. With the new Playstation 3 the graphics are set to improve further and the games even more visually impressive.

However as impressive as it sounds it is set to compete against Nintendo’s new Wii and the Xbox 360 and it is not yet sure which console will win the votes. There is no doubt that the Playstation 3 will get a lot of attention but compared to its rivals will it actually stand up to the challenge or will it be a huge disappointment?

Overall the new Playstation 3 is set to cause a stir and there is no doubt that the graphics will be amazing. It is more than just a games console; it is a multimedia player too. With impressive specs and non stop entertainment potential, will you be one of the first to try it once it is launched?
