Mice Where! Not That Type of Mice - Computer Mice!

This article is all about the kind of mice that allow you to control actions on your PC and not the kind that people chase out of their houses! Computer mice or a mouse as most people call it is something that all PC’s need in order to do any task. It is simply a point and click device that allows a user to click the various items on the computers desktop.

How the mouse works

When a person moves the mouse or clicks any of the mouse buttons, it detects the movement and sends it to your computer. When the user moves the mouse, the ball inside it moves in the same direction as the motion of the mouse. The ball then proceeds to move the rollers which activate the gears inside it. The notches in the gear then start to rotate and it shines a light in the direction of the two light sensors. It is then that the computer sends a signal of the movement and the offset of the light will determine the direction of the different axis.

That is the technical part over with now so let’s proceed onto the different types of computer mice that there are. The different types of technology used for the mice are as follows:-

Mechanical Mice
Optical Mice
• Optical-mechanical

As well as a PC, a computer mouse can also be used with a laptop although it is not essential to have one. A laptop has its own mouse pad on it so a computer mouse is only needed for ease of use or for extra comfort.

For anybody who wants something different, then the wireless mouse may be for you. They are more expensive than the serial mouse but there are no wires in the way. There is no physical connection from the mouse to the PC and it works by sending infra red or radio waves to the computer.

There are mice that use different connections such as:-

PS/2
USB

Something else which is worth noting is the wheel which is in the middle on top of most computer mice. This allows the user to scroll through software programs or internet browser pages. It scrolls the page up and down and it can be extremely useful and time saving.

It is all down to personal preference on which computer mouse you choose to get. If you are fine with just the basic serial mouse then there is no need for a wireless mouse. If you are annoyed about the cables on the other hand and you would like more movement and freedom with your mouse, then wireless may well be for you. Also, something that is relatively new is the foot mouse. This is a mouse that can be controlled with your feet so that both hands can stay on the keyboard all of the time. The foot mouse however will not be for everyone and it may be too hard to control for some people.

If you are stuck for computer mice ideas then Logitech make some good ones and the Logitech cordless mouse would be ideal for many people. Microsoft is another good company which create reliable computer mice. Other brands include Belkin, Mikomi, Trust and Labtec. However, Logitech and Microsoft are the best brands to choose from overall.

So, it all depends upon the amount of money that you have as to which computer mice to choose for you.
